While his commissioned work focuses on still life, portraiture and design, his independent projects are often conceptually driven, drawing on an interest in philosophyto explore relationships between people, places and the passage of time.

The Suspended Shoreline
Ekstakusten, Gotland

Gotland enchanted me. Since my first visit more than twenty years ago, I have returned almost every year. The big skies, long roads, open fields and wind-swept coastline offer a sense of freedom that is difficult to find in Stockholm.
Over the past decade, I have formed a special bond with the Ekstakust. This often overlooked ten-kilometre coastal road has become a source of inspiration, and I have spent countless hours here cycling, running and letting my mind wander.

Although the landscape is undeniably beautiful, it is not gentle. Exposed to relentless winds, scorching sun and pounding Baltic waves, the coastline bears the marks of nature’s endurance. Trees lean away from the shore, and rocks are worn smooth. The elements are unforgiving.

It is precisely this harshness that gives the Ekstakust its character. It demands respect and offers clarity – a reminder of nature’s persistence and our place within it.
I have often photographed the coastline on my phone, but I rarely considered making a body of work about it, largely because I felt I could never capture the rawness it evokes – the sound of the wind, the scent of the sea, the constant movement of the landscape. The images displayed here are the result of one such attempt.

Rather than document the coastline’s extremes, I used long exposures to suspend time and motion, aiming to transform its relentless energy into a dreamlike stillness. In these suspended moments, the Ekstakust reveals a different character – still powerful and untamed, yet contemplative and quietly enduring.

Den 30/6 bjuder vi in till vernissage med fotokonstnären Anthony Hill!
