A vision is born
In 1997, G.A.D was founded as a conscious reaction against the growing mass production in the furniture industry. Our founder, Kristian Eriksson — a creative and artistic designer — was searching for what he called ‘genuine furniture’: pieces of the highest quality, handcrafted from solid natural materials. When he couldn’t find what he was looking for, he decided to create it himself. This marked the beginning of a journey that is still driven today by the same passion for craftsmanship and sustainability.
Hemse at Heart
All of our production takes place in Sweden, primarily in our own workshop in Hemse on the island of Gotland. Here, a dedicated team of skilled craftsmen transform carefully selected materials into timeless furniture. Each piece is made to order and becomes a personal project, individually numbered and signed by the responsible craftsman — a guarantee of authenticity and quality.
Natural materials with soul
We work with local materials such as Gotland heart pine, limestone, and sheepskin. For birch and oak, we select suppliers from Sweden, Finland, and the Baltic region to ensure sustainability and quality. Our diabase is sourced from the Hägghult quarry in Lönsboda, Skåne — an exclusive black stone sought after by artists and furniture makers worldwide.
We also use vegetable-tanned leather from Tärnsjö Garveri and Elmo, as well as wool from Klippans Yllefabrik. Our steel and brass fittings are produced in Havdhem, just south of Hemse, further reinforcing our strong local roots.
Designed to last a lifetime
Kristian Eriksson designs all G.A.D furniture with a timeless and refined aesthetic rooted in Scandinavian tradition. He highlights the beauty of fine joinery and the natural qualities of the materials. Exposed tenon joints and dovetail joinery are an integral part of G.A.D’s unique identity as a maker of furniture crafted to the highest standards.

We believe in furniture that not only endures through life’s journey but is also passed down from generation to generation. That’s why we continue to craft honest furniture in solid materials at our workshop on Gotland. True sustainability matters to us, and we combine design with Gotland’s unique character, genuine natural materials, and authentic craftsmanship.
